Dr. Michael Carrera

Dr. Michael Carrera was born and raised in Naperville, IL, and is proud to return to treat patients in the community close to where he grew up. He began his academic journey in downtown Chicago where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology at UIC, Master of Science in Biotechnology at Rush University, and Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD) at UIC College of Dentistry. After receiving his dental degree, Dr. Carrera gained invaluable experience working for three years as a general dentist in Chicago’s West Side and South Side communities, an instrumental period that strengthened his clinical skills and his connection to the city.

Dr. Carrera went on to complete his advanced specialty training in Endodontics at NYU College of Dentistry in New York City. He was appointed as Chief Resident, a leadership role that reflected his exceptional communication skills, clinical expertise, and overall dedication to the specialty. Through his residency training, he solidified his passion for helping patients save their natural teeth and firmly believes that tooth preservation provides the best foundation for long-term oral health.

Dr. Carrera is a Board-Eligible Endodontist with the American Board of Endodontics. He is committed to delivering the best possible treatment by combining clinical excellence with compassion, cultural awareness, and the most comfortable and evidence-based endodontic care. Whether it’s urgent pain relief or precision-guided root canal treatment, Dr. Carrera will make sure that every patient feels seen, supported and confident in their care.

Dr. Carrera is fluent in English and Spanish and takes great pride in serving the diverse Chicagoland community in the language his patients feel most comfortable with.

Outside of dentistry, Dr. Carrera enjoys spending quality time with his fiancée, family and friends. He is an avid moviegoer, casual golfer, lakefront trail cyclist, dedicated Chicago Bears fan, and passionate explorer of the city’s restaurant and food culture.
